General Summer Employment Information

Thank you for your interest in The Potomac School Summer Programs. While there are many factors that comprise a child’s experience at any summer camp, I firmly believe that the most important, most influential element of each student’s summer is the staff. I know that the quality of a child’s experience here at Potomac School correlates directly with the energy, enthusiasm, expertise, and imagination of the summer staff members with whom he or she works. With that in mind, I aim to hire inspiring people who will work as a team to enrich the lives of the children who attend our summer camps.

Summer Programs consists of several distinct, recreational and academic programs for children from pre-school through high school. Of the approximately 190 staff members employed each summer, the majority are teachers and college students, many of whom have returned year after year helping to build the program we have today. This committed, experienced team is enhanced each year with new staff members who bring fresh ideas and approaches - the combined effect is magical. We create a safe, fun, and exciting community for our students.

Before applying for employment with Summer Programs, please read the camp descriptions, job descriptions, and dates of this year’s programs. Carefully complete all sections on the application before sending to me along with a photo copy of your license. You will also need to write your name on the two recommendation forms and ask two personal or professional references to complete and return them directly to me. In the event that an opening matches your talents and interests, I will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time for us to meet. Generally, I begin interviewing applicants in January, and I continue hiring until all positions are filled. Obviously, the earlier you send your application in the better for you and for the camp.
